MA FUNNY
My mom deserves to be diva for a day because she takes care of me,my sister, and dad. She goes to school and work and still finds time to play with us. She has never missed an event that we had at school. And because my dad is partially blind and can't work everything falls on her.Even when she is tired she takes us where we need to go. She has never taken a day off of work for herself. She is always doing stuff for us. This why my mom deserves to be diva for a day.

Thanks to all who entered! See all entries.

Quiet Strength and Beauty
My mother, Tamara Slywka, should be the "Diva for a Day." The cornerstone of our extended family, she is sophisticated, well read, gracious, warm, kind, and a wonderful hostess. She speaks Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and German, in addition to English. Before arriving in this country, she escaped Stalin's brutal regime on foot during the chaos of World War II. All of her grandchildren have lived with her when they were in dire need of a place to stay, and she continues to send clothing back to needy relatives in Ukraine. She is truly a shining example for all of us.

Phil Baby
Phil Baby is the most deserving woman I will ever know and I am the luckiest child because I have the honor of calling her my Mom. She has taught her seven children the values of prayer and family and has held on to these beliefs as she has courageously endured lymphoma for the past eleven years. She is often tired from the chemotherapy shots and blood transfusions but never complains. She is always there for all of us and I marvel at her strength, character, inspiration,wisdom, and true beauty. Please reward my champion with an unforgettable night. Thanks!

Heather
My mom deserves to be a diva because she always puts the kids first. I am from a large mixed family. Sometimes we have rough times because we have to go back and forth and we don't always agree. But she always finds a way to make things right. She never does anything for herself and she deserves to have one day when she can get away from us kids and the stress of life. She needs a day when it's all about her!

___
I would like to nominate my mom for the "Diva for a Day" contest. She is the most amazing person working two full-time jobs and trying to take care of the rest of her family. She is always so concerned with helping others no matter how tired and worn out she may be. Due to some health problems that I am battling with I have had to move back home. I know that it is added stress on her having to sometimes assist me. I would love for her to have a wonderful evening to relax, exhale and enjoy herself.

Beautiful
This "Mom" is nominating herself. I would really love to see La Traviata and cannot afford the tickets myself. I have 4 children but 3 are out of state and wouldn't read about it and the one in state doesn't read the paper so she wouldn't know about it.

Therefore, theis leaves me alone to nominate myself as I am a great mom. Go whenever my children need me to help out. Most of my vacation days from work are to be with them.

Mom, wife, grandmother, friend
Unconditional love, always.

Whatever you need, if she could give it, you got it...if not, she will always try a plan B. Sensitive, knowing, intelligent, gentle, kind-hearted, and a spirit of life that knows no end. Lover of people, animals, plants...a lover of life.

We never "had it all," but we had mom (and dad who has now passed away) and they gave us everything a child could want- loving parents (married 50 yrs.), a good example, heros in our eyes.

I know everyone loves their mom as I do, but no mom deserves this more! Thanks :-)

Art Diva of Dearborn
For forty years this Art Diva of Dearborn, whose work indoctrinates young minds of the importance, beauty and love of human art forms, has taught American, Lebanese, Iraqi, Italian and so many more children of the arts and divine creative beauty produced as a member of the human race. She has toured the world to bring Aztec masks, Chinese pots and Spanish paintings to her students. She has sung in choirs at the Opera House as well! My wonderful mother is retiring this spring, after 40 phenomenal years as an art teacher in Dearborn. She will always remain an artist!

The Unstoppable Knight
She literally is a knight, she was knitted in 2004. But that is not even what‚s most impressive about my mother who truly deserves to be a Diva for a Day. My courageous mother battled and persevered through an oppressive communist regime that stood in the way of her dreams, raised a stubborn child as a single mother, and started a new life in a country half way around the world. And despite helping so many people and being internationally recognized for her achievements and contributions, she still remains humble, sweet, caring, and always an understanding and inspirational mother.

Lucy
My mother deserves to be a "Diva for a Day" beacause she has dedicated her life to me and my siblings. She had me at an early age,16, and she never ever regreted the decision to be my mother. I feel she lost many great child, young women experiences because of that and I would hope to make her life wonderful even if just for a day!As long as I can remember she has made every decision based upon her children, she is certainly more than a Diva to me. Thank you so much for your time reading this and Good Luck to my Mom...Daniel

Mommy
My mother deserves diva for the day because she's never the diva. My mother teaches first grade, is on teacher union, is a loyal patron to my performances, is a complete fan of my sister‚s competitions, and is a loving wife. My mother, like the Energizer bunny, keeps going and going and going. She hardly ever breaks down, even though she has many reasons to. She deserves diva for a day because she never is the diva and she definitely deserves to be!!

___
If you looked up "Mom" in the dictionary you'd find a picture of MY mom. Always on my side teaching me right from wrong even if I had to learn the hard way. If it wasn't for my Mom I wouldn't have the appreciation that I know have for the arts in our society. She taught me is OK for "men" to enjoy the finer entertainment. I'm grateful to her for that.

Mommy to the Rescue
Our mom deserves to be "Diva for a Day" because she is always thinking of others. She teaches us to visit people who need cheer. This includes our grandpa and others who are sick or elderly. She always puts her family before herself. She helps us learn many things, both schoolwork and chores around the house. At church, she is always organizing important events and working to serve others. When she splurges, it‚s always for others ˆ except she has taken us to enjoy opera! Our mom is the best. She needs some spoiling, just like a diva!

Diva Ballerina
My mom is special in so many areas. She has raised my brother and I to be honest, loving, dignified adults and has done it with class all the way. Taking care of us and other family members has always been a priority to her, while she still finds time for ballet and ballet performances. I have been lucky enough to be involved with these shows as well, and we have shared several laughs and grand moments together. "The show must go on" is her motto, and I am blessed to be her daughter.

mami
My mom is a woman with a lot of imagination who makes me dream and pursuit my dreams and projects. She is almost 60 years old and she still likes to be glamorous as a movie star, even if she doesn't look like one. She has been working very hard her whole life and I believe she deserves to be "diva for a day" because she has never been one, even for a single hour.

I hope you believe me and you can see my mom as I see her.
Thank you so much,
Isabel

The White Tornado
My mother is 88 and in an assisted living facility. Although she suffers from mild Alzheimer's, she is still able to enjoy music and the grandeur of the opera.

Because of her I have learned to love opera and classical music which bring me great joy. The first opera we saw together was La Traviata when I was a freshman in college.

She so appreciates any little thing I do for her. I can't think of a Mothers' Day gift that she would love more than being "Diva for a Day."

She of the Tireless Mothering Instinct
Most moms restrict their worrying to one or two families, or maybe at most to a neighborhood of kids. My mother, however, is a little more ambitious. She spends most of her time applying that mothering instinct to the entire world, working tirelessly to improve the lives of kids in the metro-Detroit area, running a college-wide women‚s resource center at Oakland Community College, and a host of other activities. In the meantime, she manages to make ample time for me, her son, and my father, spending time and cooking dinners with us, and worrying about us.

Susan
My mother would be a wonderful Michigan Opera Theatre "Diva for a Day" because not only does she absolutely love going to the opera - she showed me positivity, love, and understanding in the face of any situation; even when we couldn't get tickets to the show. She showed me how to grow and do the best with what we have - always. Who better than to appreciate every moment of the night for La Traviata? I know no other - my mother!

Gloria
Hardships are the refining fire in life, bringing forth pure gold. My mother is that precious metal, wrought forth from heartbreak. Widowed at 27 with me and 8 months pregnant with my sister, she set aside her dreams, throwing herself into my dad's business to support her family. The past 26 years have found hew love and a new role as grandma. Though she still struggles with simple necessities of life, I, and hopefully someday my own three kids, look upon her with admiration and gratitude for doing what it took to provide us with a truly rich life.

Laurie Flemington
My mother should be Diva For a Day. What I put her through, as a teenager should qualify her alone. Once she thought those rough years of late nights wondering where I was and me dropping out of high school were over. I came to her at 21 years old pregnant with twins. She was with me through my whole pregnancy. The many hospital visits due to premature labor, the birth and the days that have followed. She is enabling me to continue my education so I can be as strong and independent as her some day soon.

Jodi
My mom deserves to be diva for a day because no matter what she goes out of her way for my brother and I, just to make sure we are happy and comfortable in our lives. She not only does this for our family, but for her students as well. I am happy to share my mother with them as she has not become just a guiding role in my life, but their lives as well.

Momma Royale
My mother has sacrificed her entire life to help me grow into a responsible adult. She always worked multiple jobs, bought used cars, and cut coupons in order to make sure that I had good clothing, good food, and money for college and a decent car when I was a young man. She also impressed on me, through her own life example, the importance of being a contributing member of society and volunteering for good causes in the community. Simply put, I love my mom, and would not be the person I am today without her caring and guidance.

Katina
Seldom will a parent go so far out of their way to help her mature children in need. My husband and I suffered through a horrible family lawsuit, which lasted almost seven years, bankruptcy, and if not for my mom, we would have lost everything, including our home. Because of her support and generosity, we have survived, our marriage has survived, and we still have our home. She is not a wealthy person and is on a fixed income, yet at the age of 85, she is always there, always asking if she can help, a true lifesaver.

Super Mom
My mom deserves to be a diva for a day because through all these years of raising 3 kids she has always made us come first. Now that we have grown up and the youngest has just graduated from college i want her to realize that she needs to come first. So please pick my mom she is so deserving of this pampering.

Svetlana Paramonova - Hovisa
Sveta is a stay at home Mom with two children and the third on the way. She has only been in America for 4 years and will be having her third child in that amount of time. She is a very soft, kind, smart, wonderful person, and a great asset to our community and our country. She knows the importance of classical music, and our children have been listening to it since the day she has conceived.

Pamela
My mother is an amazing woman. When she makes up her mind to do something, she does it and nothing gets in her way. She sticks by her children through thick and thin. My mother is my pillar of strength and I want her to have a special day. Living in Colorado, I'm not there to pamper her. She knows I care, I just want her to care for herself on her day.

"Lovely Daughter"
Jenny works full time,yet still is involved with PTA including running disabilities awareness day at Clear Lake Elem.Gives blood regularly, helps with petfinders, has adopted animals from the humane society,teaches classes at church and takes dance classes with her 2 children,She's "Aunt Smoochie " to her nieces and nephews playing games with them chasing them to give them smooches. She a great wife, mother, daughter ,sister and aunt. It would be a treat and early anniversary surprise.

Mothers are Forever
Mothers are Forever. Whether it's your mother or my mother, it takes a selfless, caring, nurturing soul to bring a new life into the world. We can all safely say that none of us would be here if it weren't for our mothers and so we should all give them our most sincere and heartfelt appreciation.

It would be easy to say that my mother loved me, took care of me, and raised me to be the best person I could be simply because I was her child, but she does that for everyone.

I love you Mom. Thank You!

Elle Kensigton
My Mom is so giving, she home schooled my four siblings as well as I and has a full time teaching job know. She brings all of us kids every where we need to go without complaining. She is also very concerned about health and has joined me in being a vegetarian and she has run 3 marathons as well as various other races. She is so sweet and generous and a fun person to be around; always ready to laugh and make a joke. She truly is awesome!

Joly
My mother deserves to be "Diva For a Day" because as a single mom she sacraficed so much for my siblings and I. She worked so hard to make sure we have our futures set so we all would be on the right track. She has been the best role model and will always be. I look up to her so much and because of that she deserves to a "Diva" so she can feel special. I love her so much.She derserves a lot more of what I am writting about her.

Liz Andrzejak
Works hard everyday.Always thinks of everyone else first.Never complains how bad thinks are or if I am not very good or thought full at times.

Mom
A 73 year old gentle, active loving and caring person who gives freely of her time. A professional storyteller who gives her gift to classrooms throughout the metro area. She volunteers as the captain of Call For Action at Channel 7 leading volunteers as they help Michigan residents solve their problems. Marilyn serves every week as a volunteer court mediator helping citizens find a peaceful solution to their conflicts. She also volunteers to teach children "Peer Mediation" skills within metro schools. She has been the recipient of the President's (U.S.) Volunteer Service Award.

Linda
Even thought she is technnically my stepmom, My mother deserves to be be diva for a day because she spends so much time taking care of others and not taking time for herself! She is a giving mother, grandmother and wife, and has always treated us as her own. I always say I was blessed wtih two mothers; one gave me life and the other helped teach me how to live it. She deserves to be Diva for a Day!

Marie Bjorklund
My Mom is a selfless person who is always "on-call" to babsit her son's three kids, and goes over four days a week at 7:00 a.m. to get the kids off to school. She also babysits the dogs in the family. She is one of the hardest workers I know; at 76 she is still working a very strenuous job! Although she has had a lot of stress in her life, she always has a positive attitude and never complains. I can't think of anyone who deserves to be pampered more than my Mom.

Vincenzina
She is the life of the party. Guests and family vie for her attention ˆ and manicotti! Everybody feels welcome in her home; one that has been a second home to many. She seems to have a tireless spirit of good cheer and sympathy. She simply and sincerely loves people, and people love to be loved by her.

Beyond raising two boys, she cares for her loving husband and mother, both dealing with persistent health problems, all the while maintaining a full-time vocation and numerous philanthropic commitments.

Vincenza, Vincenza, di questi cuori non puoi comprendere tutto l'amore

Momma_Ana
My mom introduced me to the arts at a young age, for which I am incredibly grateful. By the time I was 10, I had seen such shows as Madame Butterfly, Cats, The King and I, and more. A couple of years ago, we bought season tickets for the "Diva" opera series at the Detroit Opera House. She drove from Indiana each time to share the operas with me. My mom is hard-working, loving, and inspiring. She would greatly appreciate the honor of being "Diva for a Day." And believe me, she would show up looking like a Diva.

Anna
One of my mom's favorite things to do is to go to the Opera House. She loves being able to sit back and relax...and enjoy the show! And I really can't blame her. At home she hardly has time for herself. She has a job on top of three...err...two kids and husband. Plus she has to drive me and my brother to dance, or soccer, but she always finds time for us. So for this mother's day, I want to get her something special. I want to give her a chance to relax.

The Avid Opera Enthusiast
Though she handles the daunting tasks of motherhood with ease, moving her family overseas and sending two children to college, my mother deserves "Diva for a Day" for her recent passion for the opera.

Mom has become an avid opera-goer. She has insisted on taking us to the Marriage of Figaro and La Rondine, read numerous books on the opera, and taught us the nuances of Pavarotti's performances and typical plot structures.

Due to my mother, our family has transformed into enthusiastic opera-goers. She deserves "Diva for a Day" because she would greatly appreciate this experience of a lifetime.

Opera Mom
My Mom deserves to be a diva for a day because she is always there for me, and loves going to the opera, but rarely gets good seats. I would love it if she could sit in a great seat, and not have to worry about being so far back that your eyes are watering, or to far foreward and to the side that you can't see the stage, but get a good view of the backstage. My mom really loves the opera La Traviata, and it would really make her day.

Theodora
My mother's name Theodora means "God's Gift" in Greek and she is God's Gift. She is the ultimate role model. My mom is a role model in sacrifice. She was the sole care giver of her mother, my grandmother. My mom is a role model in patience. Nothing has rattled her including a false diagnosis of lung cancer. My mom is a role model in wisdom. She persuaded me to continue with the MBA program. My mom is God's gift and she has put up with a lot (including me). I love her very much and she inspires me.

Mumsy
My mother deserves to be diva for a day because she is constantly forced to be compliant with greater divas. Whether her interaction with these divas occurs while she‚s singing at church, or driving around my brother, she keeps an amazingly open attitude and finds her solace in enchanting escapes such as the opera. When vocally trained influences come into her life she appreciates the opportunity to be involved, be it as a chauffeur for visiting opera stars or by way of volunteering her own voice. She deserves the appreciation that only diva privileges would entail.

D(iva) Rob
Little did she know when the curtain rose on the first act of her finest performance (motherhood) that she would be creating her own work of art . Hours of attention to nurturing her charachters have resulted in one of the finest casts every assembled. With no knowledge of where the twists and turns of the plot would take her she devoted her energies to cultivation of a storyline which has captivated this audience(me) for decades. I salute her vision and her attention to detail throughout this most riveting performance of her life. Bravo

BellaMamma
Because she is not like the average mother- she has had to give up her whole life, including a job of 20 years, to be a caregiver for me. I had a bone marrow transplant for a rare cancer in 1998, when I was just 17. I never recovered and continue to be very ill. People try to understand how much I go through but they don't realize that it is just as difficult for her too. I would love to give my wonderful mom a special night out for all that she has done for me.

Josie
I believe my mom deserves to be "Diva for a Day" because of how much work she puts into her daily life, without expecting anything in return. She spends most of her time working, having an office job in the day, and working out of her home at night. This endless cycle of going to work and coming home to work is holding up our household as both jobs independently do not bring in enough to make a good living. She understands this, and for that she is making major sacrifices for the good of our family.

____
My mom works tirelessly as a single mom, using every penny to keep my brother and I in college. She invests so much into us and our needs that she packs her lunch everyday, goes weeks between hair appointments and rarely buys herself anything. I hope my mom is selected, as I would like to give back a little of what she has given me.

Cosi fan Tutti Frutti
Whatever the outcome of this contest, she is our Diva for Every Day. Not only did she complete her Master's Degree as an Operatic Singer, she also radiantly sings the Songs of Life. This exotic soprano has confided in the restless wind, caressed the petals of a bridal bouquet and softened the blow of a funeral procession. Yet, despite the beautiful vocal gifts she has bestowed upon many, she sings best the hymns of "Mother," "Wife," and "Best Friend," which she performs better than anyone that ever walked the earth. We are truly blessed to have her in our lives.

Opera Mama
My mom deserves to be "Diva For a Day" because she treats each of us in a special way each and every day. She loves us so much and her eyes shine like diamonds when she looks at us. She's just a wonderful mom to have. Why is she wonderful? Because she is excellent at helping with homework, cooking great dinners and making me smile.

Mom Extraordinarre
My mom, Janet Newcomer, is a fantastic mom! She survived breast cancer and this year is celebrating her 15th year cancer free. She works full time, raises money for the Race for the Cure, takes care of her aging parents, participates in my theatre activities, plays with me on Webkinz, and even started a free local American Girl doll club in Farmington. You couldn't design a better, more loving mom, and to top it off, LaTraviata is her absolute favorite opera! She deserves to be treated like a Diva for a Day, so please pick her.
Elise Newcomer (age 12)

Florrie
My mother has been the greatest role model and teacher any child could wish for. She is 84 years young, still enjoys a good game of golf and takes good care of herself. On May 17, 1980, my mom lost the love of her life (my dad) to a heart attack--this was also her wedding anniversary. We have just recently suffered the loss of her beloved younger sister to cancer. I would love to brighten her life at this time and let her again celebrate on May 17.

The Rock!
My mother has proven to be an incredibly strong woman in the face of so much controversy. My dad unexpectedly passed away in 1995 and she immediately took over as our rock. She went to college to create a better life for her three children. She remarried, but shortly thereafter, her husband lost his job. Again, she stepped up to support her family during difficult times. She was forced to file for bankruptcy and lose the home that she built in foreclosure. She is an incredible mom who has never received the thanks that she so much deserves.

Nina
My grandmother has spent more half of her life taking care of a farm and the family horse business. On top of this she raised 6 children, including twins. She has selflessly dedicated herself to others, rarely taking time out for herself. I was lucky enough to grow up living next door to her, and she has been one of my closest friends for my entire life. Her wonderful sense of humor and wit make every visit memorable. She still doesn‚t take the time to do things for herself and deserves to be "Diva for a Day."

Teresa Z Pearl
I do not know of a more deserving person for the "Diva for a Day" contest than my mother. She is and has been the glue that holds my family together. Through the survival of her own trials and tribulations beginning with being an immigrant in her teenage years, divorce, death, broken dreams, shattered promises, she has been nothing short of an angel for our family. She unquestionably is the light within any dark. This contest seemed brought on by fate, as the beauty that is represented in opera can also be seen in my mom.

The Deserving
Why not? My mother deserves it. She has always been an exceptional mother to me. She is always there when you need her and is always willing to help. It doesn't matter if I am 7 or 27. She is always willing to listen and be a strong support figure. She lives a modest life. Living without fancy cars or huge diamond rings, she finds time with family and friends to be the finer things. Why should she be a "Diva for a Day"? Because she is truly someone special. That is all I really have to say.

'gracie's mom'
1. She gets up at 5:30 every morning to feed me.
2. She cleans out my litter box every day and washes / disinfects it once a week.
3. She lets me sleep on the electric blanket every night in the winter.
4. She makes sure to play with me and tell me how much she loves me every day.
5. She's spent a small fortune on fancy toys for me and doesn't even mind that my favorite is still the empty cardboard box.
6. She even washes my 'backside' at times (I'm 'kinda fat - almost 18lbs, and sometimes it's a little hard to reach back there ...)

~~~~~ In case you haven't figured it out, I'm a 7yr old green-eyed, white beauty of a kitty!!!
Jane of All Trades
As a single mom, my mother taught me to appreciate music. My mom loved opera and wanted me to appreciate it as well; she took me to operas such as Don Giovanni. I am currently a sophomore at Cornell University, and my mom works four jobs so that I can continue to matriculate. I still love the opera, and although I cannot attend; my mom continues to go and tells me about the show. My mom is a travel agent, an engineer at Ford Motor Company, and a web designer; but her first and favorite job is being my mom.
Mona
Having almost never taken time for herself, my mother spent most of her years as a young woman with little league games, MEAP testing, doctor‚'s offices, principal's offices, school clothes shopping, a full-time job, and college tuition. 2008 marks the first year she, a woman who has dreamed of attending the opera for years is free to take care of herself, with both of us moved away. It's time for her to make up for years of undue sacrifice for her family--time for us to celebrate her as a woman, as a mother, and as a friend.
Momma K
She isn't a diva but she's beautiful. Inside and out. When you meet my mother, you cannot help but see the light that shines within her. People are drawn to her warm and caring personality. As her four children and three grandchildren will attest to, we are blessed to have her in our lives. In addition, she continuously touches the lives of many by her kind and generous ways; donating food to the hungry, clothes to the needy, and gifts to the elderly because she knows they might be lonely. She's an inspiration to all who know her.
Mrs. B
Jennifer is a mom and a teacher in the South Lyon School district as well as being the drama/play director. Both of her children qualified for the magnet program this year. Jen is also an athlete, running in various charity events each year. She is training for her first marathon in Chicago later this year. Jennifer keeps this schedule and still has time to thumb type on her wireless device. La Traviata was the first opera her father attended.
Principessa
Principessa deserves to be a Diva for a day becuase her circumstances resemble an operetic tragedy.
In the past year and a half, Principessa has had a baby, dislocated her knee, had gall bladder surgery, broken her foot, and fought repeated bouts of bronchitis.
In spite of all of this, she continues to shine like a soprano during an aria. She supports her family, continues to work, and is able to make every occasion special. It's time Principessa receives her due. La Traviata was her first opera, and remains her favorite. Make her a Diva for a day!
The One and Only Daughter
My mom deserves to be "Diva for a Day" because ....
She is my role model in so many ways! She has always sacrificed herself to give to her family. She would do without to provide for the rest of us. She always loved us no matter what, unconditional love. I remember hearing and seeing her on her knees praying for her family. What a legacy! If I could leave a legacy for my daughters it would be for them to stay close to God, as were my mother's prayers for the rest of us. God bless you always mom!
Stretch
She is the most remarkable person I've ever met. She retires this year after teaching 29 years of geometry and calculus. She learned to sign when our friends had a deaf child. She taught "back-yard school" to the neighborhood when our kids were little. She knits, paints, sews, and sculpts. And she's still beautiful after 38 years of marriage.
Mamma
My mom deserves to be a diva for a day. It is time that she has an opportunity to be treated as she treats everyone in her life. The last few months have been busy for her - taking care of her sick mother, a new grandbaby being born (and she is a hands on grammy, my sister moving out west and my mom helping her pack and going with her to help her unpack. My mom is amazing and a powerhouse and my continual inspiration for her selflessness. I would love the chance for her to be pampered!
Cathie
My Mother loves live performances and music. She has six children and doesn't do many things for herself. She has never been in a box seat at any performance. I think it would be lovely to see her treated like royalty for just once in her life. I think that she would really love the exquisite dinner and luxury transportation. I would really like for my mom to have this experience at the beautiful and historical Detroit Opera House.
Domestic Diva
Though she has a master's in voice performance, and is a beautiful lyric soprano, she has invested herself in the next generation of musicians, both her two children, and twenty other private students. She is the wife of a pastor, so has given up the opportunities to make enough money to attend operas in order to minister with her husband to the needs of many people.
Such selfless investment in others deserves the reward of "Diva for a Day" (plus her daughter would love going with her!!!).
I'm not an opera lover but that has not stopped my mother from trying to turn me into one for at least 40 years! She has taken me to the Met in New York, accompanied me to the Met‚s live broadcasts in her local movie theater, and we have taken in quite a few operas at the Detroit Opera Theater as well. Each time, she leans over to with tears streaming down her face and says, "You would have to have a heart of stone not to love opera." I smile. I'm trying, Mom, I'm trying.
My Mother raised 6 children. She was a wonderful partner for Daddy. It was great to come home everyday and smell something good to eat. She was always there for us.
She made beautiful clothes for my sisters and I. All my prom dresses were designed and made by her. They were fabulous. She was gifted and thrifty and godly and taught us to be kind and honest people.
She turned 86 on April 13. She still lives in her home of 62 years, she drives and attends church every Sunday.
She is my hero. I Love yOu MOMMY!!
